Charity Quilt to Benefit Japan Relief

Message board members work together to create wooden quilt for charity auction

Members of three of Fox Chapel Publishing’s message boards, Scroll Saw Woodworking & Crafts, PyrographyOnline, and Woodcarving Illustrated are joining together as a group to create charity quilts. Members are burning, carving, or scrolling designs onto 4″ x 4″ squares that will be joined together to create a beautiful and eclectic quilt. This is the third charity group project organized by Fox Chapel Publishing; the Woodcarving Illustrated message board has auctioned two friendship canes for charity and the Scroll Saw Woodworking & Crafts message board has auctioned off a quilt for charity.

Message Board Monitor Bob Duncan, who helped organize the charity group projects, said members signing up on large numbers.

“In less than 24 hours, I had 25 members who signed up to create a square,” Bob said. “I was overwhelmed by the response. It really reinforces in my mind that woodworkers are carving and giving people!”

The members are asked to use the attached template to drill the holes needed to attach the squares together. To join the group project, sign up on the Scroll Saw Woodworking & Crafts Message Board.
