Why is My Compound-Cut Project Lopsided?
By Carole Rothman
Compound-cut projects require a blank with faces that are square to each other; a saw blade that’s vertical; and a pattern that’s placed accurately. Once you have successfully set up your scroll saw, cut this elegant butterfly project. To ensure a successful result:
| 1. Use an engineer’s square to check all faces of the blank. If not square, you may be able to correct this with a belt sander and miter gauge. |
|
| 2. Crease the pattern sharply on the fold line; place the fold line precisely at the wood’s edge. | ![]() |
